Can a variable font with stylistic alternates be readily instanced in FontCreator?

I have licensed a few variable fonts and use a few other variable fonts that all have stylistic alternatives that I’d like to use with applications that do not support variable fonts. I’d like to create instanced versions of these fonts based on selected stylistic sets. Does FontCreator easily enable me to do this?

Apologies for the basic nature of my question, but I could not quickly determine this from the manual, and I’m trying to determine if FontCreator would easily help me with this task during the trial period.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, FontCreator can do that.

You can export a single instance, or all defined instances, from a variable font. The exported fonts will be regular non-variable fonts.

Do note that stylistic sets themselves remain OpenType layout features. So if the application supports those features, you will still be able to access them in the exported fonts. If needed, you can also make permanent substitutions and export a separate font file for a specific stylistic variant.

So this is certainly something you can try during the trial period.
