CapHeight Changes When I Paste?

Hello High-Logic community

I need some help with this wonderful program. I have been drawing letters in Adobe Photoshop, using a transparent guideline so that my letters are all the same size. Then I copy and paste the letter into FontCreator, adjust the size by clicking and dragging the corners so that it lines up how I want it, and move the right red dotted line (I’m not sure what it’s called) to the correct position.

Everything worked just fine for A, B, C, D, E, F, and G. But when I got to H, something strange happened. When I pasted the letter in, the CapHeight moved down to the top of the pasted H. (which was below the x-height line) It didn’t do that for the other letters, because I remember having to adjust their size to make the top of the letter reach the CapHeight line. But for H, this happened. I am pretty sure that I’m not doing anything different for H than for any of the other letters I have done.

This is very troublesome because now my H is much smaller than all the other letters, as I have used the CapHeight line to make sure all my letters are the same size. And I don’t know how to reset the CapHeight line to its original position.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Ah, before I posted this I thought it would be a good idea to test out I. I drew I and pasted it into the I box. It worked fine; the CapHeight line didn’t change at all. I pasted the exact same I, without recopying it, into the H box, and the CapHeight line changed! Very puzzling.

See this post How Do You Adjust the Cap Height and x-height Lines?

I haven’t tried, but I guess the way to go is to create the “H” and “x” first to get the CapHeight and xHeight that you want.

What I do if I’m importing images from elsewhere is to import them all without any resizing, then resize them all together using the Glyph Transformer. That makes sure that they are all resized equally.

Thanks a lot for the help!
