Charecter width so narrow that charecter does not show up

I just finished creating my first font from importing my own handwriting. Everything was going well until I starting trying some automatic spacing etc. tools. Although overall the spacing was better, when I tried to use the quote (") or the single quote ('), the charecter would only show up for a split second - then apparently disappear. The space for the charecter seems to be only 1 or 2 points wide - rendering the charecter invisible. No doubt, the character is still there, it’s just too narrow.

I deleted the loaded image, reloaded it into the same character, but still had the same problem. I tried adjusting all the properties of the charcter without any luck solving my problem. I imported the bmp image into a different, unused charecter and had no problems.

In order to use the quote ("), I need to inconviently use the greater than (>) sign to show up a as quote.

Please help me fix my screw-up.

You just need to change a setting in your word processor to not replace with “smart quotes”. See this post: http://forum.high-logic.com:9080/t/some-characters-do-not-show-after-installing-on-xp/140/2

I hate when people don’t check the forums for their own answers.

Thanks for pointing that out to me and sorry for wasting everyone’s time!

Thanks for the response!!!
