Composite Glyphs: Global search & Replace

I am hoping to modify some 3429 composite glyphs one rhyme at a time. Is there some way to do a global search and replace for, say, the romanized portion of these 49 glyphs?

z_ai4, z_ai4.vert, z_bai4, z_bai4.vert, z_cai4, z_cai4.vert, z_chai4, z_chai4.vert, z_chuai4, z_chuai4.vert, z_dai4, z_dai4.vert, z_gai4, z_gai4.vert, z_guai4, z_guai4.vert, z_hai4, z_hai4.vert, z_huai4, z_huai4.vert, z_kai4, z_kai4.vert, z_kuai4, z_kuai4.vert, z_lai4, z_lai4.vert, z_mai4, z_mai4.vert, z_nai4, z_nai4.vert, z_pai4, z_pai4.vert, z_sai4, z_sai4.vert, z_shai4, z_shai4.vert, z_shuai4, z_shuai4.vert, z_tai4, z_tai4.vert, z_wai4, z_wai4.vert, z_zai4, z_zai4.vert, z_zhai4, z_zhai4.vert, z_zhuai4, z_zhuai4.vert

I want to turn all instances of -ài into -ay. (1) I have
searching through the manual explanation on composite glyphs. (2) I have also tried manual retyping of each instance, but that way madness lies.

This is not possible right now, but we could implement a Search and Replace component. We will add this feature request to our to-do list.

Two other possibilities:
(1) Can I do a simple search for z_ai4, z_bai4, z_cai4 …?
(2) Failing that, can I export and process this range of glyphs with LibreOffice or Affinity Designer (similar to Adobe Illustrator) and reimport them to Font Creator?
