Creating a Bold version in an existing .ttf file

Hi, I’ve looked around and couldn’t find an answer to this, so I hope I’m not asking something that is commonly addressed.

I want to know how to create a bold version in the one .ttf file; all I can find is tutorials on how to just create the bold characters themselves, not save them.

What happens when you try to save or export the new font?

I’m using FontCreator 5.6 Professional Edition

Ok, I found the selection for bold in settings and metric, but that seems to replace the existing file I have.

Use save as, and use a different TTF filename, e.g. My Font Bold.ttf instead of My Font Regular.ttf.
