I have a very large number of fonts. The library is showing around 18,000 fonts but I have imported a group with various subfolders that contains 30,000. If I search for duplicate fonts is shows 920 selected but only a very few of the first fonts alphabetically are highlighted.
Why are the numbers as they are?
Can I show just the duplicate fonts?
Why aren’t all the duplicate fonts highlighted?
Do you search for duplicates while the Library view is active?
Yes. It shows 1021 selected but only 1 font family with about 30 duplicates is blue.
It is good to know that MainType is a font manager, not a file manager. It collects all unique fonts, so an exact copy of a font file is not considered a duplicate. In MainType only unique fonts are shown, exact copies are shown in the Resources section of the Information panel.
In case you have 3 font folders with these fonts:
Folder A
MyFont version 1
MyFont version 2
MyFont version 3
Folder B
MyFont version 1
MyFont version 3
MyFont version 4
Folder B
MyFont version 1
MyFont version 2
MyFont version 5
Then MainType will show these fonts:
MyFont version 1 (3 resources)
MyFont version 2 (2 resources)
MyFont version 3 (2 resources)
MyFont version 4
MyFont version 5
And Select Duplicates should select all but the last version of MyFont.
But that does not explain when I chose Select Duplicates, at the bottom of the screen it shows ‘1021 fonts selected’ but only around 30 are actually selected. So what does the 1021 figure represent?
A screenshot might reveal the issue.
Is the view in Font Family mode?
Also solved by uninstall including cache and database and reinstall. Now highlighting all duplicates.
The screenshot shows you are in family mode.
