Exporting a Font

I’m sure there is a simple step I’m missing. I started with a glyphter font that had 5 glyphs. I added 4 (3 individual parts and a 4th that combined those and made each part a different color). I cannot get it to export my 4 new glyphs and when I preview it only shows the original 5.

Okay, I added some $## to each and now they appear in the preview. However, I still can’t get it to download?

Does the Test Web Font show the new characters?

It does now, but when I download, it acts like it is doing something, but it isn’t. I’ve also tried to install directly out of FontCreator. It does say my multi-colored glyph has “Incomplete Characters”, but I’m not sure how to fix that. “I” is the one I really want.

The character “I” currently has an advance with of 0. Metrics of the base glyph and the color members must be the same.

It might also lack a monochrome outline, but I can’t tell from the provided screenshots.

Thank you for your help, I think I’m giving up!

Too easy to give up!

Do send the font project to me and I will look into it.

How do I get it to you? It won’t let me attach it in the chat? Thank You!

I have added some more approved file extensions, so please try again.

Now it gave me a “new users can’t upload files” warning. Sorry, thank you for all of your time!

Do send it to customersupport.

Thank you for sending the font project.

I have made a couple of changes:

  • Set AW for characters F, G, H, and I to 1024.
  • Added monochrome (black and white) outlines to character I. This is a fallback in case your software does not support color fonts.
  • In your email you mentioned you intend to use the font with Adobe InDesign, and since InDesign still doesn’t support COLR, I set the color export to SVG without color palettes.

Let us know if this works.

Thank you so much! I’m going to fight with it in InDesign some more, but it works perfectly in Microsoft Word!
