Fairydust: "Corrupted file"?

(sorry if this has already been explained in another topic; I did a general search for the same subject but didn’t find anything)

Alright: first, I need to ask anyone whor esponds to be patient and dumb things down for me. I’m familiar with computers, but not terms, and I’ve a very limited idea of what I’m doing when it comes to fonts.

The problem happens with the Fairydust font. I’m able to save and export the file alright, but when I try to install it (yes, the proper way) I receive the same message over and over; “Unable to install; font file may be damaged.”

I’ve tried downloading the file multiple times, changing its name and making certain that the file wasn’t in read-only mode; I can’t think of anything else to try. (oh–and the “copy/paste” gives the same results) I’ve been able to download other fonts from this website and others, but I’ve never had this reaction.
(note–I get the same message from other sites with the same font)

Mrrhelp please?

Edit I apoligize; I was referred to this forum by someone else when I said I had trouble with the font. I didn’t realize this place was primarily for those creating fonts. Feel free to delete^_^

I found Fairy dust with Google at Abstract Fonts. It installed perfectly and doesn’t seem to be corrupted.

Perhaps you were redirected here because the font says that the Designer is Erwin Denissen (the author of Font Creator) and the Designer link is http://www.high-logic.com/

The file that I downloaded was in ZIP format. To install the font you first have to extract the file Fairydust.ttf from the archive, then copy that to the fonts folder.

Windows NT, Windows 2000 and Windows XP (and most likely the upcoming Windows Vista) require valid content for the Microsoft (Unicode or Symbol) Platform → English - United States naming fields:

  • Font Family Name
  • Font Subfamily Name
  • Unique Font Identifier
  • Full Font Name
  • Version String
  • Postscript Name

Fonts that don’t meet this requirement will fail to install.

Fairydust has no Unique Font Identifier; you can use Font Creator’s AutoNaming feature (from the Tools menu) to fix this.

The copyright notice inside the font points to:

Ah; thank you very much, your wonderful font creator SOMEhow did the trick.

I opened the file and used the autonaming feature; all fields were filled in but I changed the name of the Unique Font I.D. and that seems to now have fixed it.

Also–sorry for the double post. Don’t know how I managed that =.=
