Font Creator stopped working on Vista 64 bit

I have a system using Vista 64 bit, and my copies of Font Creator, Scanahand and Main Type have stopped working, even after I reinstalled them. I can get some access to Scanahand, but Font Creator and Main Type simply will not start up. The problem may also be caused by Spyware Doctor with Anti-virus. It’s hard to tell, but whenever I try to access Scanahand I get a report of suspicious activity. Can anyone help, please? Best wishes, Lesley Prince. :frowning:

You are the third person who reports issues with PC Tools Spyware Doctor. I’ve already contacted them, and one of our customers also submitted a support ticket about this.

I still haven’t heard back of them, so I think they have other priorities.

Please do give them a call, and ask them to fix this problem.

We will contact them (again) as well.

Hi folks,

Just letting you know that this problem is being worked on. It affects people running 64bit versions of windows.
The current workaround is to do this, in Spyware Doctor:

  1. Disable Full Screen Mode (Settings-> Advanced-> Untick Checkbox “Enable Full Screen Detection mode”)
  2. AND make sure “Enable Kernel Compatibility Mode” is disabled (Settings-> Advanced-> Untick Checkbox “Enable Kernel Compatibility Mode)”
  3. and you will also need to disable Behavior Guard in MyAccount.

Disclaimer: I work for PC Tools, but I don’t claim to speak on behalf of them. So while I can’t say when the next release is coming out, I can say that a better fix than this is being worked on.

In the meantime, if you have other questions, you can try the forums & knowledgebase.

We welcome your reply to this topic, although we are a bit surprised it took you guys more than a year to acknowledge the problem. I hope solving it doesn’t take another year

Do keep us up to date about the progress.
