Iʼm using FontCreator 14. For some while now, Iʼve been having trouble creating a complete, consistent font family, meaning the 4 traditional family members “regular”, “italics”, “bold”, “bold italics”. However, lately, ever single members receives an individual name, they donʼt form a family anymore.
Before, I used to name first the family, say, MyFont, then I specified the individual members. Since I like to do things my way, I used to name the individual members “Roman Book Medium”, the “regular” member, meaning itʼs an upright (Roman) font, weight class Book, and with it being neither compressed nor expanded (medium). Makes sense? Same way, the other members would be “Roman Bold Medium”, ”Italics Book Medium”, and “Italics Bold Medium”.
Like I said, this method used to work splendidly. But since version 14, everything has gone haywire. Even after a number years, I havenʼt been able to solve this puzzle. Any suggestions? Any hints where I might be going wrong? It has likely to do with Font Properties. Any help ould be very much appreciated since this issue is hindering my regular work (Iʼm a writer).
Maybe this will clarify Font Naming.
Hi Bhikkhu!
Thx for the reply. It is certainly very instructive. I was looking for something like that for a long time now.
I still have to implement it, it’s quite complex, but it could hold the key to my troubles.
Thanks again,
Steve
