Getting a script font to connect

I have created a script font, however I cannot get the font to attach together. I would like each letter to be together to make it appear as it was written in one motion. I am new to Font Creator and was wondering how can I go about attaching the letters together.

Connecting script fonts take the most work, much of which is the connecting parts and side-bearings.

Take a look in the image below. This font does not rely on kerning. Most good connecting script fonts do not.

Note how the side-bearings are inset from both the right and left of the character extremes. In other words, with side-bearings set like this, there will be a natural character overlap. (I only show the left side-bearing of the right-hand character in each pair.)

Thank You! Since I am new to Fontcreator I would have never thought of moving the side bearings. I thought they have to stay where they were.

Thread moved to the support forum.

The character itself is moved to the left of the left side-bearing. The right side-bearing is dragged into a typically common negative value.

As mentioned in the thread BP linked to, using the comparison window can help while setting the right side-bearing. Using angled guides can aid in moving the right-side tail that should connect to the next letter. As can setting vertical and horizontal guides for the common connection area.

It is a lot of hard work that only gets easier with time and practice.
