If I make a font and instal and use it, for instance in Ulead the “letter” is not centered.
So if i make it rotate round its axes its not centered…
How do I do this please…
if i set the position to x0 y0 in glyph it doesn’t seem to do that…
Your question is unclear. What are you trying to achieve? Is this normal text, or some mapping symbols?
The x,y origin of a glyph is the cursor position to the left of the character on the baseline. If you rotate any character, it will rotate about the origin. I think you want to position the centre of the glyph at x0, y0.
Your problem is not something I’m exactly familiar with either.
Make sure you’ve set the left and right side bearings – use Tools/Autometrics/ and set Calculated or Fixed distances.
Also use Format/Font Settings/Metrics/Calculate for ascender and descender distances.
These will essentially form a consistent “box” around the letters which might help.
You can rotate a letter by using the Transform Tool Bar (View/Toolsbars/Transform - F6).
Select entire glyph (Ctl-A)
Select Rotation tab:
Select the center dot in the 3x3 grid.
Set Angle to be something, like 90 degrees. Press Apply and the letter will rotate in 90 degree increments.
Optionally, you can move the character by using the Position tab:
Select the center dot in the 3x3 grid.
Set X position and Y position = 0.
This will center glyph around the origin where you can see the rotation more clearly.
Moving it back is achieved on the Position tab by selecting the lower left dot and entering position x=0 and Y=0.
