font creator 5.5:
file save as sure did not work
Not only do you need to give the TTF file a new name, but you also have to change the relevant naming fields. Run the Autonaming Wizard — Tools, Autonaming and give it a new name there.
well in the fontcreator the fonts are onscreen but after renaming it with the auto renamer, when i click on the ttf file there are no fonts there.
will this software ever be adjusted to suit newbies?
Can you send a copy of your font directly to me? I’ll see if I can identify your problem.
This software is easy to use, but font editing will never be simple.
You’re not talking sense, which doesn’t help us to help you.
“There are no fonts” presumably means that you don’t see any letters in the FontView window when it opens. What do you see if you test the font in FontCreator? (F5)
Have you added any letters to your font, or is it a blank new font? Are you trying to create a new font, or just trying to rename an existing font?
The font shows up just fine when I double-click the font file.
To find out if your font is corrupt, open the font in FontCreator and then test the font by selecting Test in the Font menu. If the font shows up as expected, you probably need to reboot Windows. If that doesn’t work, you can force Windows to re-create the cache file:

If the font fails to show, just let us know and I’ll do my best to fix the font.
there seems to be two major faults with this software
A: when you start it a message pops up and says if you have a problem email us. the emailing works but there are no replies.
B: I have tried the software IT CLEARLY DOES NOT WORK
yes i deleted the windows files ad restated windows, even a cold restart.
let me know if it ever works - i doubt it.
I’ve successfully installed your font running Windows XP. What version of Windows are you running?
I’ve sent you an email (with a modified version of your font) 20 minutes before your last post. So please check your spam filter and let me know if you’ve received it.
This is a clasic case of a bad workman blaming his tools.
The font is a load of rubbish, but it can be made to work fine by a few simple fixes. The default Shareware font as downloaded from Dafont.com doesn’t work either.

If you rotate the glyphs, they will be too high for the current metrics, so you need to do Format, Settings, Metrics, Calculate.
-
The font has incorrect data on the Ranges Tab. Format, Settings, Ranges, Calculate, and Code Page, Calculate.
When saved and installed, it works fine.
Hi Bhikkhu Pesala,
The original poster has confirmed the font I’ve sent to him does work. All I did was:
- change the font name to Planes-T-Modernrotate2, to ensure it doesn’t conflict with other fonts
- calculate the Unicode and Code Page ranges, as they were indeed incorrect
And don’t forget:
If you rotate the glyphs, they will be too high for the current metrics, so you need to do Format, Settings, Metrics, Calculate.
The font has incorrect data on the Ranges Tab. Format, Settings, Ranges, Calculate, and Code Page, Calculate.
In my mind, P, S, , ©,¶ should be left vertical. Then Autometrics the whole business. Easy modifications.
In my mind, “The Software Continues To Work”…
if the font software was any good i would use it.
email replies ONLY happen after it is on the forum NOT the impression the opening screen gives.
the original font works fine.
now that i have sorted out all your nonsense - i will give up with this software.
maybe a later version will make it and the silly manual user friendly.
We’re sorry to see you go.
However I believe you gave up because you failed to put time and effort in learning the basics of our software and font design in general. For example when you start FontCreator, it shows a welcome screen that leads to the most frequently asked questions and answers; the answer to your first question (how do i save a font under another name?) was right under your nose.
In my honest opinion I’ve always been polite; you’ve been giving the opportunity to try our software for free, I’ve replied seven times to your emails and your post to the forum got eight responses.
anon125 just stomped off in “self righteous indignation” and proved that Bhikkhu Pesala had it right all along.
A million happy users, and one guy that knows everyone else is all wrong.
Some people just don’t have the temperament for this hobby.
YOU TALKING ABOUT ME, DAVE?
You got it Sir Richard! You and me. But we don’t do too bad for beginners!
All moved in now? Oh what a relief it is!
