I need to add a .case variation to some diacritics, but don’t know how to add unmapped characters.
To insert the new glyph(s):
- Choose Insert ► Insert Glyphs… from the main menu.
- Switch to the Glyph Name tab.
- Type the names you need, one per line, e.g.
acute.case
grave.case
colon.case
The glyphs will appear at the end of the font as unencoded characters.
Give them shapes; if you only want to reposition them, consider using the original glyph as base for a composite.
To generate the appropriate OpenType features, open the OpenType Designer dialog and press the Generate and Update OpenType Features button.
Just add as many new glyphs as you need using the Insert Glyph menu.
Insert them after the relevant extended diacritics or at the end of the font.
Copy/paste the contours from the regular diacritics, then modify each one, e.g. by scaling them vertically if needed. They don’t need code-points, just glyph names.
