I Bought FontCreator But Still Got Anti-Piracy Pop-Ups

I’m Poet Judou, I bought FontCreator Standard on 8 June, 2024.

But recently I got anti-privacy pop-ups.

Thank you for reaching out. We noticed that your license key was recently used on several different computers, which caused it to be disabled automatically. Since a single-user license is intended for use by one person, this may explain why your activation attempt failed.

To help you get back up and running, we’ll provide you with a new license key. Please make sure to keep this key private and do not share it with others, as it is linked to your personal license. If you suspect that your computer or email account may have been compromised, we recommend updating your passwords to prevent unauthorized use.

OK, thank you!

By the way, the website said “A single-user license allows installation on multiple computers”. I use my key only for me, but I am using 2 computers right now: my Windows desktop and my MacBook Air. Sometimes I may have to use VPN because I am in Chinese mainland.

Thank you for clarifying. You are absolutely right — a single-user license does allow you to install the software on multiple computers, as long as it is only you who uses it. Using both your desktop and MacBook Air is perfectly fine.

However, our system has detected that your license key was activated on 12 different systems. This goes far beyond what would normally happen with personal use, even when switching between computers or using a VPN. Because of this, the license was automatically disabled.

Oh! That’s because I was having difficulties in late 2024 and I sometimes had to borrow laptops to make fonts; I returned them with factory settings restored (so nobody can use FontCreator with my key). At the same time my desktop was reset.

I never shared the key with anyone.
