Importing an EPS File

Hi,

Is it possible yet in FCP to import (a logo saved in) an EPS file?

Ideally I don’t want to have to ask the designer of our logo to save the EPS as a BMP or JPG etc. in case it loses any clarity etc.

“vanisaac” mentions in:

… that Erwin might be working on this but I have installed the latest version of FCP (v5.0) and it doesn’t yet seem possible?

If not possible are there any other work arounds, bearing in mind I am using Windows XP and do not have access to Illustrator, Quark or CorelDraw etc. but have FCP and the EPS file?

Thanks,
Andy

I think you worry too much. Ask your designer for a Windows Meta file or a bitmap about 500 pixels high. I don’t think you will find any loss of detail.

Try converting it to a black white jpg and copy it to the clipboard.

Paste it into a FC editing window.
You may need to move a few nodes around but you may be pleasantly surprised too.

Thanks for your replies.

I have been able to simply copy & paste from the PDF images that accompanied our designer’s EPS files. I zoomed in to about 300%, copied the image to clipboard, then pasted into a glyph/editing window and the result was surprisingly good. Not a very ‘scientific’ approach but the result was very satisfactory.

Thanks again,
Andy
