I have a digital-clock style font I’m trying to edit. The letter and number characters are similar widths, but I’m trying to modify the colon so that it’s only the width of the dots. It displays fine when testing in FCP but shows as fixed-width in Word, etc. I have managed to get the colon shifted all the way to the left but there’s still excessive space to the right of the character I can’t get rid of.
Take a look at Format, Settings, Post (script), Fixed Pitch. If this is set to 1, change it to 0 and see if that solves the problem.
Oh, that was TOO easy! Thanks!
OK, another issue. The font I’m working on is being used for a specific purpose (initially I only needed the numbers). The program I was using it in was cutting off the top section of the characters (as was Word, etc.). So I moved all the numbers down a bit, and the problem was solved. Now I’ve decided to do the letters as well, and suddenly the top of everything is cut off again. Is there a setting somewhere that determines the default height of the font?
Whether or not the characters’ tops and bottoms appear to be cut off when using a font in an application depends on the WinAscent and WinDescent values. Erwin Denissen gave guidance in this thread:

This was an update from a previous post.
