Inquiry regarding License after v16 Update

“I purchased the license last year. When I opened the software this year, it prompted me to update to version 16. However, after the update, I was asked to purchase a new license. Could you please explain why this is the case?”

I’m sorry for the confusion. At the end of last year we released an update that had this issue.

FontCreator 16 is a major upgrade and requires a new license. You can either upgrade to version 16 and enjoy the new features, or continue using version 15 with your existing license.

Since you bought FontCreator Home within the last six months, we can offer you a 50% discount on the FontCreator 16 upgrade price. I will send you details in a pm.

The main problem is that I’m blocked from opening v15. It’s forcing me to upgrade to v16.

The latest v15 should not block, can you confirm you have installed FontCreator 15.0.0.3048?

Thanks. I managed to resolve the issue by installing the latest build of version 15. However, the current update process is quite misleading and easy for users to get wrong.

Thanks for confirming, and I’m glad installing the latest v15 build resolved it.

You are right that the update flow in that specific build was confusing. The problematic download was from the end of last year. Since then, we have released several FontCreator 15 updates, so users who regularly installed updates should not be affected.

For anyone else reading this: if FontCreator 15 appears to block you or pushes you toward version 16, please install the latest FontCreator 15 build from the Registration Codes page. Your existing version 15 license remains valid for version 15.

Hello, I don’t have a FontCreator 15 license; my online company does.
Until the company decides to upgrade, will FontCreator 15 still receive support?

I’m referring to FontCreator-3047. There was a nice update for anchors,
but it disappeared in version 3048.
If support has ended, I hope there will be a stable final release with the Improved Handling of Anchors feature.

FontCreator 15 will of course continue to work with your existing license, but active development has moved to FontCreator 16.

As you may know, High-Logic is essentially a one-man company, so I unfortunately cannot maintain older major releases alongside the current one.

The improved anchor handling is available in FontCreator 16, so I hope your company will consider upgrading when possible.
