Install FontCreator - Windows 10

Hi, I have a version 6.something which I tried to install on Windows 10.
It installed, but there was an error message when running. Can’t remember what this was, but how could it be resolved.

If there are bugs in old versions, they will not be fixed.

Upgrade Pricing to the latest version 14 only apply to versions 11, 12, or 13, so you would need to buy a new licence for the latest version.

Take a screenshot of the error message, and someone might be able to suggest a probable cause or workaround.

OK thanks, but is it supposed to work on Windows 10?

Windows 10 was released in July of 2015, while FontCreator 6.5 was released in November 2011, so it was not designed to work on it.

Older programs will often work in compatibility mode. I have some older programs like CorelDraw 4.0 that won’t even install on Windows 10.

Thanks for responding.
I tried installing and running with compatibility mode, still have issue.
It appears that older programs can be run though.

It looks like it’s installed. There is a folder in Program Files (x86). But nothing in Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs.

The error message is:
An internal exception occurred (0xa9ac87)

You seem to have a cracked version, because the support email is incorrect.

I recommend you buy a legal version from High-Logic. The Home Edition is only $49, which is OK for personal use.

No it is definitely not a cracked version.

Back then when used third-party software that protected our software. We abandoned it as it gave more problems for honest people.

Since you are a long time customer, we will provide a 25% discount coupon. I will send it to you by email.

Yes but I only use occasionally, every 2 years on average.

I’ve had a look at the new version and it looks completely different to the older one I’m using.
Yes I agree that the pricing is affordable relative to other software, but I know how to operate the earlier version.
Please advise where else I can solve my problem.

Can you please tell us what part is too different to handle? Maybe we can improve it or add better instructions in the user manual.

No surprise there after so many years. I found the hardest part was getting used to the new interface, so I made a tutorial on working with the panels.

I have used every version since FontCreator 4.0. The biggest change has been with the use of project files and exporting TrueType fonts, rather than just opening and saving TrueType fonts directly.

There will inevitably be a long learning curve for you, but the basics are the same. Using OpenType features, creating Colour fonts and Variable fonts are probably way more than you need, but it is an absorbing hobby.

Thanks for responses.

Different in the whole sense I suppose, which would take time to learn.
