Keyboard Shortcuts

I am just starting to do in depth of fonts (I’ve always used FC for small edits) and it would be great if more commands had more keyboard shortcuts. For example Enter opens a glyph editing window, but how do you close it? You have to run to the mouse.

The menu commands don’t need keyboard shortcuts, because you can use Alt+letter combinations, but where these are noot available keyboard shortcuts would be very nice.

Control F4 will close any window.

Control Tab or Control F6 will switch to the next window. These are not quite universal shortcuts in all applications, but they are fairly common.

Aha, I was thinking Ctrl+W to close the window, thanks.

Open Font Creator, press 1 (or select help), use index or search for shortcuts.

An excellent list will appear.

A few items still (Aug 2007) need to be added to the list:

Shift + Arrow moves selected point(s) or contours 100 f-units
Arrow moves selected point(s) or contours 10 f-units
Ctrl + Arrow moves selected point(s) or contours 1 f-unit

There are sure to be others I don’t remember right now.

Thanks Dave, thats a great tip. I always thought the help files were identical to the user manual and I never looked at them.

Hi Fred,

The shortcuts are also mentioned in the user manual.
