MainType Crashes When Browsing Fonts

Hi,

I have purchased and installed MainType version 12.0.0.1318 (64-bit).

When I run the application it starts with the main panel “View-Active Fonts” displaying four headings for types of font, True Type (3 fonts), Open Type TT (6766 fonts), Open Type CFF (1589 fonts) and Open Type Collection TT (55 fonts) with the True Type fonts group selected and the first font in that group selected.

If I then expand any one of the other three groups and start clicking on the names of the fonts in that group, I am only able to click on, and view, anything between 3 and 12 font names before the whole application crashes and I have to restart it. Sometimes, it crashes when I click on the name of the first font in the selected group.

As things stand, it makes the software virtually unusable.

I would appreciate any pointers as to what might be causing this and any suggestions for stopping it from happening.

Thanks, and regards,

Patrick

It might be due to a corrupt font that crashes your video driver.

This post might help find the problem:

Thanks @Erwin Dennisen for the response.

It will take me some time to work through trying to identify whether there are any corrupt font files with over 6,000 to go through.

Of course one of the reasons I have been investigating and investing in font management software is to be able to organise all my fonts and to have the management software identify corrupt fonts for me and even, pehaps, help me to fix them.

I also purchased X-Fonter, which boasts a facility for identifying and fixing corrpt fonts but when that feature is run, it claims that all is well and there are no corrupt fonts.

Oh well, back to the slog of uninstalling fonts and retrying MainType to see whether it continues to keep crashing.

Regards,

Patrick
