I would like to ask how can i use the software
to create font for my handwrite, but in second
language.
the first language is of course English, and in my case the second one is Hebrew.
In the “FontCreator 5.5”, there are 637 glyphs, so my question is: in
which glyphs i supposed to insert the letters in Hebrew ?
I mean that i want to create font in English and in additional, when i click
Alt+Shift, the keyboard will be switched to Hebrew.
Thank you very much,
Meir.
Insert, Characters, Go to Unicode Block, Hebrew.
Double-click on the first character in the range: 1425 (Hex: 0591)
Double-click on the last character in the range: 1524 (Hex: 05F4)
That adds 1425-1524 to the bottom field of the dialogue.
Click OK to add the Hebrew character range to the font.
Then start creating each letter in the appropriate glyph edit windows, starting with 1425 HEBREW ACCENT ETNAHTA
First of all, thank you very much.
Now, if I make the whole letters in English (capitals and small),
all the letters in hebrew and save the font, it will work with no problems?
My question is: if for example i will open a new word document, and i will start print with the new font, all I will have to do for writing in Hebrew is
just press alt+shift ? (The second language in my computer is Hebrew)
And for writing capital letters, I will just need to press “Caps Lock”?
Thank you again,
you have a very impressive and useful forum.
have a good day,
Meir, Israel.
I have no experience of working with right to left fonts, so I cannot advise. Take a look at the Mike Hebrew fonts and see if they work on your system.
Bhikkhu Pesala hellow again,
I did what you recommend me about the glyphs in Hebrew and
for test I inserted 2 letters in Hebrew and 2 letters in English.
Then, I installed the font and when I tried to check it on word doc,
the English letters was shown, but the Hebrew letters wasn’t shown.
I installed the ‘Mike Hebrew font’ and it was o.k.
I just need to know how to activate the letters in Hebrew so everytime
I will press Alt+Shift, it will work.
How can i use the FontCreator 5.5 for second language ?
I’m sure that it is somthing simple in the software’s definitions.
I will be happy for any help from you
Thank you and have a good day,
Meir.
I suspect the font lacks Hebrew character ranges. Go to Format → Settings → Ranges tab. The calculate buttons usually gives the best results in determining the correct character ranges, but I suggest you manually add Hebrew related ranges.
Please see the FAQ on Mike’s pages. I cannot advise you on how to enable right to left word-processing in Word as I don’t have it. In OpenOffice, go to tools, options, languages, and enable the Complex Text Layout (CTL) for Hebrew.
Selecting a suitable keyboard is something done at the Operating System level. Alter Left Shift should switch keyboards.
