Neue Helvetica vs Libre Baskerville – Which Font Is Better for a Shop Banner Design?

I need some help and professional input. One of my clients wants to use the Neue Helvetica font for their shop banner design. However, I’m concerned that this font requires a paid license and is not free for commercial use.

To avoid any licensing issues, I suggested using Libre Baskerville, a beautiful, free, and open-source serif font available on Google Fonts:

I would really appreciate your guidance on the following:

  1. Is it legally safe to use the Neue Helvetica font from this source for a commercial banner?
  2. Are there any free alternatives to Neue Helvetica that give a similar modern and clean look?
  3. In your experience, is a serif font like Libre Baskerville suitable for shop signage/banner design, or should I push for a sans-serif style?

Every suggestion helps. I’d love to hear feedback from fellow designers and typography experts before finalizing the banner design.
