Hi, could anyone post a message about NFT. How can we use this technology for selling fonts. How can we produce our fonts with NFT.

This is a great font related question and very relevant. I will try to provide an answer, but I am by far an expert, so it would be great if other people jump in.

What’s an NFT?
Think of an NFT as a digital certificate of ownership that lives on a public ledger (a blockchain). The actual files (like a font) usually stay off the blockchain and are just linked from the certificate.

Key idea for fonts:
Don’t “mint the font file.” Instead, mint an NFT that represents the license or membership that gives someone the right to download and use your font. The license text (what buyers can/can’t do) is what matters.

3 simple ways to use NFTs with fonts

  1. License-as-NFT (most practical): The NFT = proof that the holder has a legit desktop/web/app license. They log in with their wallet on your site to download the font. When they sell the NFT, the license moves to the new buyer. (Just make that clear in your license.) Note: buying an NFT doesn’t automatically transfer copyright—you decide what rights you grant.
  2. Membership/Access: The NFT gives access to a private download page, updates, or discount codes. No font inside the NFT—your site checks the wallet and shows the downloads.
  3. Art drops using your type: Sell artwork that showcases your typeface (no font delivery). Great for promotion; the font license stays separate.

How to do it (in 5 steps)

  1. Write a short “NFT License Addendum.” Explain what the holder may do (installs, web use, seat limits) and if resale transfers the license. Make clear the font is licensed, not sold. (This avoids the common “NFT = copyright” misunderstanding.)
  2. Mint the NFT. Any mainstream platform works. The NFT’s page should link to your license addendum.
  3. Host the files safely. Keep the font on your site or on decentralized storage (like IPFS) behind a wallet-gated download—don’t paste a raw download link into “unlockable content,” as those links can leak.
  4. Let holders sign in with a wallet to claim/download updates (your store checks who owns the NFT and shows the right downloads).
  5. (Optional) Resale royalties. Some NFT platforms can signal creator royalties, but marketplaces don’t always enforce them—treat royalties as a bonus, not a guarantee.
