I have just published the Poetical font onto the web.

The font is as follows.

The Poetical font is used in the following files which are also available from the library page, though they were produced previously using a development version of the font as part of a project featuring graphics and fonts used together.

The font file in the library was produced this morning using Font Creator Program 4.5 using as input a font file produced using the Softy program at various times since Monday 26 April 2004.

In relation to the graphics and fonts project documents, most of the fonts used are from Serif, either supplied with the Serif PagePlus 9 program which I used to produce the pdf documents or supplied with other Serif packages. A few of the fonts used are my own designs.

Earlier this afternoon I updated the file with the shareware licensing information for the Poetical font.

I have added the following near the top of the document.

I am thinking of having a document for the Quest text font to make the position clear, even though Quest text will remain as a free download.

In the http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~ngo/library.htm web page are links to the collection of pdf documents in my using graphics and fonts exhibition. The fonts used in that exhibition are either from Serif http://www.serif.co.uk the supplier of the PagePlus 9 program used to produce the pdf documents, the fonts being either supplied with that package or with another Serif package, or my own fonts.

I would like to extend the collection of documents, yet there are so many ambiguities about whether it is right to embed a font in a pdf, due to licensing and fair play, that I am reluctant to do so without asking specifically. So, I thought that perhaps such a consideration might also concern people using my fonts, so I have added the clarification note to the licensing document.

I am hoping that my fonts will be widely used.

A new version of the Poetical font, namely version 0.13 has been available on the web since 9.13 am British Summer Time (0813 GMT) this morning.

This version adds no glyphs. Yesterday afternoon I started a new font, Poetical 013 in POETI013.TTF, in Font Creator 5.0 and used the glyphs from the old version, copied one by one using the clipboard, as the artwork for the new font. I adjusted the metrics.

This morning I produced Poetical version 0.13 in POETICAL.TTF from POETI013.TTF. This involves, after using “save as” to produce the POETICAL.TTF file, deleting all of the unused glyphs in POETICAL.TTF, then using Format | Settings | Ranges and calculating both ranges, then validating the font. The font is then tested using Microsoft Word 97.

POETI013.TTF still has ready-mapped spaces for adding other characters. So any future development would start by copying POETI013.TTF to a new file POETI014.TTF and using the font name Poetical 014 during development. This means that I do not alter existing finished work, just in case later additions need to be rethought or abandoned.
