Reduce number of control points

It would be nice to be able to reduce the number of control points (either for an entire font, a whole glyph, or the selected control points) after an image has been traced to a glyph. Also as a way of modifying an existing font.

The algorithm for determining which points to remove thus reducing the number is most probably ‘out there on the internet’ it cannot be a unique problem.

This feature request has now been implemented in FontCreator 10 on the right-click menu in the glyph edit window to apply it to selected contours or nodes, and as a Transform script to apply it to selected glyphs.

See this video about the new features.

The complex glyph below, imported from a SVG file, has fewer points when optimized.
