Rune font

rune row.jpg
This is a runic font (first pass). It is based on (one of the versions of) the Anglo-Saxon futhorc, but it also contains a complete Unicode runic block plus some versions that Unicode have missed. As a bonus it also contains some Viking symbols.

Nice letterforms! And I cannot locate another font that has this straightforward style for Runic.

Would you consider releasing this under the SIL Open Font License? … http://scripts.sil.org/OFL. … or possibly another open-source license?

Nice font, i like this type of other language designs, which language this is belong to?

Here is a good introduction: https://omniglot.com/writing/runic.htm

More in-depth is the ScriptSource entry: https://scriptsource.org/cms/scripts/page.php?item_id=script_detail&key=Runr

Thanks ClintGoss, good information, there’s an old Arabic script Maybe similar too in some letters shap.

That’s the Old South Arabian script in Unicode … here’s the chart: https://www.unicode.org/charts/PDF/U10A60.pdf.

I am including these characters in a pan-Unicode font I am working on, but have a single source for the glyphs - the Hanazono font. The glyphs are similar in style to what you can see in the Unicode chart.

It would be great to locate a font that has Old South Arabian with a bit more style, like the glyphs in the image you have shown … however, I need it in a font licensed under the OFL license or the another permissive license that lets me use the glyphs (with credit). The GNU licenses do not work because they require me to use the “same license” and my fonts are licensed under OFL …

So, if you know of an open-source font with Old South Arabian, please point it out …

Thanks!!

Hi ClintGoss

Unfortunately, according to my knowledge there is unavailable old south Arabic (Musnad) under OFL, becuse this scripts Unicode recently maybe some years ago, the only famous Arabic designer his name is Sultan al- Maqtari work with this font (he participate in unicoded the mentioned font as i read),
see his blog and his Musnad font on myfont. , but i think the shape designs are so simple, hope this useful… thanks
