Spacing between fonts help - New user

Hi,
I bought FontCreator professional edition a day before and trying to explore. I just created a 4 letter ‘A,B,C,D’ font and tried using in my other application. I see a spacing issue between the characters when I use them? Can you please assist? Attached is the screenshot.

With the Professional Edition it is very easy. Run Optical Metrics.

Try with different spacing values until you’re satisfied with the results. Certain pairs like AV, TA, DA, etc., will still need adjustment with kerning, which you can do when you have completed the entire set of glyphs.

Thank you for the info. I am still seeing the attached issue after Optical Metrics done.
Different spacing values I should try in the optical Metrics option. For this to achieve do I need to complete the entire set?

You should get better results when you have completed the set. Adjusting side-bearing manually is time-consuming, but can easily be done for a few glyphs later if necessary.

Complete the figures, punctuation, and currency signs too.

There is no need to install the font to test it. You can use the Preview Toolbar or the Font Test window.

Thank you. I will complete the set and get back if any questions.

Also how do I set the width inside the FontCreator when I create an alphabet like I can set the adjustment to Cap Height, x-height and the baseline for height.

You can set a fixed width for the selected glyphs in the Autometrics dialogue, or you can use the Glyph Transform wizard to scale, glyph contours, and set the advanced width for selected glyphs. You will find some existing transform scripts, for example, to set the figures and maths symbols to a fixed advance width.

Thank you. I am still working completing the glyph sets. I will reply to this post once I am done.
