Unable to edit existing ttf file

I have successfully created a new font style, and I have been able to make changes to it in the past. But recently when I attempt to save it the “save as” box comes up and I am asked to replace the existing file, when I click on the “yes” button an error message comes up with the message “You can’t overwrite a font file that is currently installed.” I have tried to delete the existing font file but am not allowed to. I have FontCreator 6.2 Professional Edition. Any suggestions?

Thank you

You need to uninstall the font.

Easiest way is to download MainType and uninstall it through there.

I have downloaded “MainType” but I am getting the same results. The results I’m getting with “MainType” after I unistall and/or unload is nothing in the Preview Text but the rest of the info is there and says that it is loaded.

I do it within FC. Doing Install will give option to display Fonts directory. You can delete it there. Alternately going to Control Panel and Fonts gives access to installed fonts.
