Hi,
I have bought new version of 7.0 font creator.
I have arabicnevzat.ttf and saved with version 6.0. I am writing Arabic in in Word 2007 of MS.
When I opened and exported to ttf of my arabicnevzat.ttf font file with new version of v.7.0 and installing it. In Word it does not work. When writing in Arabic characters are separated I men chrs not connected.
Is v7.0 not backwardly compatible with v.6.0 ? or why this happens?
I want to use default of .ttf
My Operatring System is Windows XP and office 2007.
Thank you for your answer.
Would you pls. give me example about export setting?
How can I add required OpenType Features to the font?
What are required OpenType Features to the font?
I am not very experienced on fonts features. I am basically collecting and adding some fonts for my
personel use needings.
I have no experience of working with Arabic fonts, so I wouldn’t know what needed to be added. If you can attach the font I can take a look at it, but I suspect that you will need to continue using FC6 for now.
We’ve decided to add a new option which allows you to store the original OpenType layout feature tables back into the exported font. I expect we release that version later this week.
I tried FC7 created file with Word 2010 and Win7 and it did not work.
Again I tried FC6 created file with Word 2010 and Win7 and it worked.
I think Arabic Language support in Word 2007 or 2010 does not realize FC7 created .ttf.
I’m afraid this is caused by the fact FontCreator 6 just kept the tables related to OpenType layout features unchanged, and FontCreator 7 processes them, so you can edit them, and export the changes back into the modified font file.
One thing missing in that process is full GPOS support, and I suspect that is what your font uses.
We are working hard to implement that missing piece right now, so hopefully that will solve this issue.
