I created a video to show how to create a font using Scanahand 2.0.
It omits the stage of filling in and scanning the blank templates, but just shows how to load the filled templates and generate a font.
- Print out the blank template for each page
- Fill them in with a felt-tip pen or calligraphy pen (or use graphics tablet/drawing software directly on JPG images)
- Scan the filled in templates at 300 dpi and save as JPG images
- Load the filled templates in Scanahand and generate your font
- Save the font to disk and install it
- If you also have FontCreator, edit it in FontCreator
Scanahand - Basic and Extended Template
This video shows you how to create a Dingbat template for use in Scanahand Premium Edition. This single page template has only 12 characters from A-L but you could easily add more pages.
- Open the template editor and clone the Symbol and Dingbats template
- Enter a new name for your custom template
- Change the number of columns and rows and turn off the signature
- Edit the advanced options to remove the template header and the guidelines
- Save the blank template as a JPG image
- You can then fill in the JPG template with IrfanPaint, or cut and paste line art using your favourite image editing software, or draw on it with a graphics tablet and pen
Scanahand - Creating A Dingbat Template
Updated to save directly to a JPG file instead of a PDF as this is more efficient.
