The Views window in MainType 12.0 Professional Edition shows very large gaps between the entries, which is very annoying.
Trying to enlarge the window by dragging the bottom edge leads to even larger gaps between the subentries under Predefined Views.
I see the opposite bug. On resizing the Views Panel, the spacing becomes much tighter, but there is obviously a bug here.
Here it obviously works just fine, but we have made some adjustments which should solve the problem.

The only thing I notice at first glance is that the application is closed again after startup and then reopened - at least the application window is completely closed again during the startup procedure and then reopened. It takes some getting used to ..

We have just released an update that improves the way the font manager is started. Within MainType select Help → Check for Updates to get it.
That is much better. The speed of your responses is as impressive as ever.

It would be nice if the FontCreator would start as quickly. It might also be worth checking there to see if the magic trick might also work there … 
Ups, I must have rejoiced too soon. The startup problem (additional opening and closing of the program window) was gone right after the update - but now it’s still there. I checked it several times this time.

No. This makes it worse. On changing the layout, MainType disappears from view, though the icon is still on the taskbar.

I have installed this. The window opening and closing during startup was gone.
Then I made a few attempts with a custom layout and switched between factory default and a custom layout and also tried with and without a maximized window.
In the end I also had the problem that the window was minimized to the taskbar and you can see it there (pictogram on mouse-over in taskbar) but you can no longer bring it back to the desktop and work in it.
The attempt to maximize the window via task manager ends - not always but reproducibly - with a full screen window without content - there is only the frame and you can otherwise see the desktop.
I hope this update solves the issue.
