What OpenType Features are Being Used Here?

I am curious what opentype feature does this use:

Probably Contextual Ligatures (clig)

Or perhaps Contextual Alternates (calt).

jch,
This is a good way of showing OT at work. How did you make the animation?

The GIF image is hosted on the SparkyType Web Site so I am sure that jch did not make it.

It’s not that difficult. You could use any screen grab utility to take screen shots of a fixed area after each letter while typing with the installed font in any application that supports OpenType features. Then use FastStone Viewer or another application to combine the frames into an animated GIF.

Here’s one I just made with FastStone Viewer to show off the OpenType Features in my Odana font. The Word Start Alternate is used in the first line, Standard and Discretionary Ligatures are shown in the second line. I did the typing in PagePlus X7, and used the shortcut to capture a Fixed Region, then Repeat Last Capture.
