Where is otf support in FC14?

Up until FC13 I could export my font projects as either ttf or otf files. Now in FC14 I can no longer do that. I always get ttf file as output despite choosing CFF format during export.
Thanks

Is it the file extension that you worry about?

Please read:

Yes, I no longer get otf as file extension as it used to be when I choose CFF in export output.

I would prefer if my fonts had the *.otf extension.

Then that is a bug. We will look into it, but for now just change the file extension.

All your fonts, even the ones with TrueType (quadratic) based outlines?

Those are the only fonts that I create. Since they contain OpenType features I give them an *.otf extension. It is the easiest way to distinguish them from old fonts that do not contain any.

Of course it is a bug. Bring back old functionality from FC13. It made wonderful otf files. Much bolder and better kerned than ttf files.

No worries. The font file contains the CFF based font; it is just the last three characters of the file name that are wrong.

It is the inside that counts

Ok but I do see a visible difference between otf files and ttf files generated through FC13. Here you can see too:

Please don’t remove this amazing functionality in FC14. Thank you.

Okay, so maybe the bug is more severe, that is just exports with TrueType based outlines

Thanks. Please submit the bug to the development team for review.

They are on it right now!

 Nothing quite like Team Work.

We have just released an update (14.0.0.2792) that solves this issue. You can get it through the main menu → Help → Check for Updates, or just download it from the download page on our website.

Let us know your results.

My Truetype fonts still export with *.ttf extension unless I use Postscript outlines.

Yes, that is true, but the CFF bug is fixed.

It seems most people prefer to distinguish between fonts containing TrueType and CFF based outline by means of the file extension. I personally don’t like it either, so maybe we still need an additional option to specify the file extension for fonts with TrueType based outlines.

Fixed. Thanks a lot.
