In Arabic typeing we have to use zwnj to write some words.
i set adjustments to make better kernings. It works in font creator opentype panels but does not work in indd 2022 and chrome etc.

Hi,
indd 2022 is Adobe Indesign? if so you might want to look here https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign ... p/13116917 seems to be the same issue you are having if I am not mistaken.
They do offer some solutions that may or may not work for your problem, hope this helps.

Yes i mean Indesign 2022.
I faced this problem mentioned in adobe forums.
i faced this problem with text with contains a special white space type cause problem about ligature marks.
the problematic whitespaceis ^I in find and change windows. this problem is different i think.
indesign does not run adjustments contains zwnj at input part.
chrome runs adjustment but cursive doesnt work.

Re: opentype zwnj problem
I see what you mean have you tried other fonts online with the same type of design to see if it's a global issue or specific to your font?
I'm French, English speaking but if I have text examples I can try to find a solution for Chrome for Indesign unfortunately I do not have access to.
Been pushing limits to chrome with SVG types so I understand the frustration one can have when things don't work according to plan.
I've searched for "chrome adds a space to arabic font" and seems you are definitely not the only one with issues there are extensions but the whole point of a custom font is for it to work without additional software. For a long time myself I was waiting for a fix for COLR fonts.

P.S: If you can post me a text line that causes that space so I can check some fonts online to find one that doesn't glitch I'll be more than happy to help you.
Edit: Dumb question does the issue exist in Edge?

Re: opentype zwnj problem
With the given information it is impossible to see why it fails. It would help if you could isolate the problem within a small font.

Re: opentype zwnj problem
Thank you for sending the sample font project. It seems to look just fine.
I am not sure why it fails to work in InDesign, so please let Adobe know, so they can look into it.

Re: opentype zwnj problem
It seems they are moving away from their own shaping engine, and are implementing harfbuzz, which is also used in most web browsers. So I expect it will eventually work in future versions of their products.

Re: opentype zwnj problem
I totally understand your concerns, but we can't fix bugs in other software.
I know many type designers are annoyed by this, so we just need to keep telling Adobe and other software vendors to fix their bugs.
